How to Stay on Schedule During Q-tine (without kids)
One eye opens, then the other. You look at the time. 12:30! Well what do you have to do anyway? You can’t work from home right now and neither can your partner. You can put the pillow over your head and roll over, or you can get up and start your day.
Yes this is a good time to start some things that maybe you didn’t have time to before. It’s also a good time to perfect some things that you already know. Making a simple schedule that you can check off daily task (ohhhh it feels so nice to put that check mark in the box doesn’t it?) gets you up with a purpose, feeling good for the follow-through, and motivated to stay growing! Here is a simple checklist to get you started.
Morning Routine
Get up, take a stretch and begin your morning routine. It can be as simple as making coffee and staring out the window or as involved as brushing teeth, tongue scraping, coconut pulling, quick mediation, tidying up the kitchen with music, and so on… Whatever it is, find a morning routine, a ritual, that works with you and makes you feel good!
Physical Movement (30 Min)
Get your heart rate moving a bit faster than when you are sleeping. Join an online yoga studio or gym. Check out Youtube for HIIT workouts. (I did one and couldn’t walk for 3 days. Literally) Try some jumprope. Whatever it is, get moving!!
Shower and Shave (1 Hour)
I’m giving you an hour in this department so you can enjoy the shower. No, not for an hour.
Showering is my favorite part of the day. I imagine that my entire energy field or aura is being cleansed. I stay very mindful by connecting with my fingers massaging my scalp, my breath, and the smells of natural products. So enjoy every moment!
Also, shave your face or your legs, put some lotion on, fix your hair, and put some clean clothes on. Treat this day as if you will engage with the world. Put some lipstick on. I always do 🙂
Read For Pleasure (30 Min)
What makes you happy to read? Autobiographies? Biographies? Science-Fiction? or Steamy Romance? Don’t judge it. Just do it. Get lost for AT LEAST 30 min!
Read For Knowledge (30 Min)
Whether this is something that will further your knowledge in your career or simply you want to know why Coqui frogs are so invasive in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. Learn anything you can in at least 30 min.
Clean Up Your Photo Files (30 Min)
I already see you rolling your eyes. I’m rolling them too don’t worry. BUT we all know that we NEED to do this because we have about 14,000 photos on our phones or on the cloud and half of them are duplicates. UGH! Set the timer: 30 min, Go!
Online Learning (30 Min)
Ok, this is different than reading for knowledge. Online learning it actually taking a course (free or not it doesn’t matter) to further your career, your personal elevation, your spirit! This can be lessons on meditation, making youtube videos, navigating photoshop, writing techniques, or business skills.
Mindfully Make Meals
This may be difficult for those that don’t enjoy cooking. But think about this. You can get a chance to stay present while listening to the crinkling sounds of packages opening, feeling the smoothness of slicing vegetables, noticing the calming and cleansing sounds of water when rinsing dishes. So mindful! Also being mindful and caring in anything and everything you do sends good energy out and about. So imagine this good loving energy going into your food and then entering into your body and nourishing it. Big smiles right there.
See? It’s not so bad!
There is still some time left in this quarantine for most of us. Make that list, check them off as you do them, and notice how the day zooms by like a motorcycle down your street. Or at least that is what happens on my street every minute. Ha! Enjoy 🙂
